Ant Insurance, is the trading name of FIUK.com Ltd and as an Appointed Representative, we are permitted by the Financial Services Authority to arrange general insurance contracts. Please see our FSA Status Page for more information.

We began trading in early 2000, pioneering internet based standalone Mortgage Protection and Loan Protection via our trading name of FreeInsuranceuk.com and offering the consumer an alternative to high priced high-street policies.

We prided ourselves on keeping a small, tight-knit company and listening to our customers needs and by doing so began to understand that they wanted greater flexibility and choice.

We worked exclusively with a new underwriter to create an Income Protection Insurance (ASU) policy that provided the innovative and unique option of 3 and 6 month benefit periods to combine with the industry standard of 12 and launched these products on the Ant Insurance website in June 2006.

We received the What Mortgage Magazine Insurer of the Year Award for 2007 and 2008 and regularly topped the Defaqto and FSA tables as the cheapest provider of payment protection; but we have never compromised the quality of our cover to maintain these premiums.

The "credit crunch" in late 2008 caused underwriters and brokers to re-evaluate their products. We therefore searched the market in an effort to offer our customers not only value for money but an excellent product. In March 2009 we launched a highly competitive Mortgage Protection Insurance followed in May 2009 by an Income Payment Protection Insurance both underwritten by certain underwriters at Lloyds of London. In doing so we continued our history of bringing affordable but comprehensive cover to the payment protection internet market.

In April 2010 we made the decision to become an Appointed Representative of Columbus Travel Insurance Services Limited providing their Income and Mortgage Protection Payment Protection policies on our website. However in July 2011 they no longer felt able to supply their policies to us at a premium rate we were comfortable with so we looked elsewhere for a robust yet competitively priced alternative policy.

Consequently in July 2011 Ant Insurance became an Appointed Representative of WIMS Ltd which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority (FSA no. 306840). We feel that the strength of policies they offer, coupled with a competitive premium rate, is an excellent product and in keeping with the Ant Insurance ethos of Strong Cover, Low Cost.

Ant Insurance feel that with the current recession difficulties and the anxiety many people have in the jobs market, it is incumbent upon online brokers to ensure, as far as possible, that we provide not only the best possible cover at the most competitive rate but a website that is as informative and user friendly as possible so the customer can understand the product they are buying and be as confident as possible that it is suitable for their needs
