Top Tips to buy Safely

- Ensure you are a permanent resident in the UK. You must be a British citizen or have been given a UK permanent residence.
- Be aware that you must be in continuous employment for 6 months before you can apply with us. However if, for example you change jobs, you are allowed up to 2 weeks unpaid leave before it is no longer considered "continous employment".

- If you receive more than one month's full sick pay, you can potentially recieve an additional 15% dsicount. Please view our 15% discount section on our Income or Mortgage protection pages.
- If you have a Chronic This is a condition that occurs prior to the start date and continues indefinitely, or cannot be cured or eradicated or that recurs or requires treatment or Pre-existing This is a physical or mental condition whether diagnosed or not, which you knew about or in our reasonable opinion should have known about, or for which you received treatment prior to the start date. condition, this may affect your eligibility to claim. - You cannot claim for redundancy during the first 90 days from the start date of the policy. This could be waived if transferring in from a previous payment protection policy. "Click here" for our jargon buster where you will find more information under "T" for "Transferring in".
- To claim for Unemployment benefit you must be in receipt of Jobseekers Allowance. Click here for more information.
- To claim for Accident and Sickness benefit you must be in receipt of Statutory Sick pay or Short Term Incapacity benefit. Click here for more information

- Although we are age banded, once you have bought the policy, our premiums do not increase as you get older. (Please note however that premiums may have minor increases in exceptional circumstances).

For your peace of mind
You may cancel the policy within 30 days from receipt of your Policy Schedule and all monies will be refunded. After that you may cancel with one months notice without penalty but no payments already made will be refunded.
